SonicFILL – The New Way to Get Fillings
Filling up the cavity now takes no longer than usual. Yes, it’s time to replace those conventional filling that involves a lot of drilling and time.
The evolution of a new type of fillings called composite resin that is made up of glass and plastics has been widely used more than Silver amalgams.
A new technique that uses this composite resin for fillings is SonicFILL. SonicFILL involves only minimal drilling and less time. These fillings from composite resins also feel and look like your natural teeth. With proper care, composite resin fillings on your teeth can withstand years of everyday wear and tear.
Working of SonicFILL system
SonicFILL is a special handheld instrument used to fill the space that needs to be restored. A suitable amount of filling is deposited into the tooth to bond your original tooth. Then, sonic waves are applied over the fillings to harden it and cure it. Now the tooth will be bonded permanently with that composite material that creates a long-lasting, strong, and natural look in much less time than conventional amalgam fillings or composite fillings.
SonicFill techniques
Two types of fillings are involved in this technique.
1) Direct filling
2) Indirect filling
1) Direct filling: In this method, your dentist will prepare your tooth by drilling some area for filling. Composite resin is directly applied in the area to be filled, and a beam of blue light is applied over the fillings to harden and heal quickly.
2) Indirect filling: In the indirect method, your tooth will be prepared for filling, and an impression of your tooth will be taken with a soft material to fabricate a mold. The fabricated mold is then sent to the laboratory for the fillings to custom fit your tooth. This may take a couple of weeks, and once if it is ready, your dentist will call you for the next visit. Finally, with the help of an adhesive cement, fillings are placed over the tooth, which is prepared already.
In both these methods, only less drilling is needed to fill the composite resin. In the traditional method, a path is created to fill the silver amalgam. This path helps to keep the amalgam fillings in place. Here when the composite resin is used, this creation of the path is not necessary.
Why SonicFILL is unique?
The SonicFILL system is a modern technology that uses sound waves to change the filling material from a liquid state to a solid-state. Since the filling is done using a handheld device, there is no chance for air pockets that causes inflammation or infection. This process is very fast than layering traditional composite filling. This sonic filling is more effective than other filling types and will endure many years.
There are many other types of fillings, such as ceramic, glass ionomer, and cast gold. These type of fillings, along with amalgam fillings, does not need to be restored with composite fillings unless they are damaged. Either an allergic reaction may occur, or an added cavity develops below the fillings.
If you like to replace your fillings, discuss your issues with your dentist. A knowledgeable dentist who is an expert about composite fillings can help you find if restoring your old fillings is good for your dental health.
Advantages of SonicFILL

2) There is no possibility for the risk of infection or inflammation.
3) Improved esthetics and Durability.
4) Excellent polishability and Color match.
5) Excellent depth of cure.
